چکیده

Spartina alterniflora has extensively invaded the coastline of China, including in Maoyan Island Zhejiang Province. Ecological restoration been conducted using non-native mangrove Kandelia obovata to replace S. an attempt restore impacted intertidal zones. To illustrate ecological effectiveness projects, macrobenthos communities were studied among different habitats within restored areas, one non-restored marsh (SA) and three differently-aged K. stands planted 2003, 2009, 2011 respectively (KF14, KF8, KF6). Besides, unvegetated mudflat (MF) adjacent forest transplanted 2006 (RKF) at a previously barren without invasion history set as reference sites. A total 69 species collected from Island, richness was dominated by gastropoda (23 species), polychaeta (18 malacostraca (16 species). There no significant difference between six sites terms abundance macrobenthos, with average values peaking KF6 (734.7 ind m?2) being lowest RKF (341.3 m?2). The had differences biomass macrobenthos. KF8 site contained highest (168.3 g m?2), whereas MF (54.3 Shannon-Wiener diversity index Pielou’s evenness did not exhibit However, results permutational multivariate analysis variance (PERMANOVA) revealed spatial community structure Since KF14 shared similar RKF, while representing strikingly SA, we infer that can resemble normally about 15 years after restoration.

Increased nitrogen input enhances Kandelia obovata seedling growth in the presence of invasive Spartina alterniflora in subtropical regions of China.

Mangroves in China are severely affected by the rapid invasion of the non-native species Spartina alterniflora Although many studies have addressed the possible impacts of S. alterniflora on the performance of mangrove seedlings, how excessive nitrogen (N) input due to eutrophication affects the interactions between mangrove species and S. alterniflora remains unknown. Here, we report the resul...

Use of exotic plants to control Spartina alterniflora invasion and promote mangrove restoration

In coastal China, the exotic invasive Spartina alterniflora is preventing the establishment of native mangroves. The use of exotic species, control of exotic plant invasion, and restoration of native plant communities are timely research issues. We used exotic Sonneratia apetala Buch.-Ham and S. caseolaris (L.) Engl. to control invasive Spartina alterniflora Loisel through replacement control f...

Co-Regulations of Spartina alterniflora Invasion and Exogenous Nitrogen Loading on Soil N2O Efflux in Subtropical Mangrove Mesocosms

Both plant invasion and nitrogen (N) enrichment should have significant impact on mangrove ecosystems in coastal regions around the world. However, how N2O efflux in mangrove wetlands responds to these environmental changes has not been well studied. Here, we conducted a mesocosm experiment with native mangrove species Kandelia obovata, invasive salt marsh species Spartina alterniflora, and the...

Diversity of endophytic and rhizoplane bacterial communities associated with exotic Spartina alterniflora and native mangrove using Illumina amplicon sequencing.

Root-associated microbial communities are very important for biogeochemical cycles in wetland ecosystems and help to elaborate the mechanisms of plant invasions. In the estuary of Jiulong River (China), Spartina alterniflora has widely invaded Kandelia obovata-dominated habitats, offering an opportunity to study the influence of root-associated bacteria. The community structures of endophytic a...

Effects of Spartina alterniflora Invasion on Soil Respiration in the Yangtze River Estuary, China

Many studies have found that plant invasion can enhance soil organic carbon (SOC) pools, by increasing net primary production (NPP) and/or decreased soil respiration. While most studies have focused on C input, little attention has been paid to plant invasion effects on soil respiration, especially in wetland ecosystems. Our study examined the effects of Spartina alterniflora invasion on soil r...
